Toaster on Animal Planet

In 2002, Toaster and I were featured on Animal Planet’s TV series “That’s My Baby”, when Toaster whelped her first and only litter. The filming centered around the history of this breed as ancient, mystical healers, the ways in which Toaster helps me as a service dog, what FMS is about, and the mission to place Toaster’s puppies with other people who have chronic pain.

When Animal Planet aired our story, the episode increased public awareness regarding an alternative method of muscle pain relief by identifying Xolos as a unique type of service dog for chronic muscle pain. After hundreds of applications for a Xolo, it became apparent that there are many others in my position who wanted and needed a dog like Toaster. Many years later as it still airs around the world, I continue to receive emails and phone calls hoping to find a little Toaster of their own.

It has been hard to disappoint people when I tell them I placed all of Toaster’s puppies. The plethora of requests from people wanting a Xolo of their own is what inspired this heartfelt mission to create a Xolo service dog placement program which would help others longing to experience this amazing source of relief and comfort. The program is called X-CPR™, short for Xolos for Chronic Pain Relief™ and funding is needed to assist people on disability income to obtain a Xolo of their own.
