Paws for our mission

The heart-felt mission of Paws for Comfort® is two-fold. First, to provide uplifting and healing avenues of communication for those in difficult situations, especially those with chronic/terminal illness, disabilities, their loved ones and caregivers. Paws for Comfort® is particularly dedicated to increasing public awareness of under recognized populations of people coping with chronic illnesses, especially invisible conditions, such as Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

Paws for Comfort® further intends to increase recognition and appreciation of another under recognized population, caretakers and loved ones, who play an irreplaceable role in the lives of those who are health challenged.

Secondly, Paws for Comfort® hopes to increase public awareness regarding an alternative method of muscle pain relief by identifying the rare dog breed Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless) as the unique service dog for chronic muscle pain. This is accomplished through Paws for Comfort®’s products of greeting cards and gifts, which feature Toaster, famous for her “hot dog” service by being a live 24/7 heating pad.

Xolos offer those who live with the chronicity of muscle/joint pain a great deal of assistance as well as hope and joy.

Toaster whelped another mission named Xolos For Chronic Pain Relief™ (X-CPR™) when she had a litter of puppies who were placed across the country with people who suffer from Fibromyalgia.

X-CPR™ is a filing for nonprofit 501c3 to assist others in obtaining and training a Xolo service dog.

Paws for Comfort® envisions providing the means and encouragement of:

  • Bridging communications between people in difficult situations in positive, healing ways by offering the words and sentiments some people may have a hard time expressing.
  • A greater understanding of what it is like to live with a chronic/terminal condition or disability. Through humorous and comforting forms of communication, the unique circumstances faced by those who live day to day with chronic/terminal illness, disability and their supporters are reflected.
  • A greater understanding of what it is like to care for and about someone with health challenges. Through expressions of appreciation and understanding there are more acts of kindness between families and friends.

Paws for Comfort® will donate a percentage of net profits to X-CPR™, causes related to Fibromyalgia/CFIDS, San Diego Hospice(in honor of Eleanor and Herbert Gordon), and/or other related organizations.
